Fv432 Mk1 APC

A look at the grandfather of the family

The mark one entered service in 1963. They were equipped with the Rolls Royce B81 petrol engine. The most distinct feature that separates them from the rest of the family is that the exhaust runs along the roof, unlike the Mk2 and Mk2/1's, which have it on the left hand side. On the right hand side, it has the NBC housing, in common with the Mk2. Instead of the jerry can boxes on the rear, the Mk1 has additional fuel tanks that could be jettisoned.
