The main external differences of the

Fv432 mk1, mk2, mk2/1 and mk3

The most obvious external feature that distingushes the mk1 from the rest of the family is the mounting of the exhaust along the roof as it has the Rolls Royce petrol engine fitted (pic1). The mk2 and mk2/1 have the exhaust running along the left hand side of the hull and as it has the Rolls Royce K60 multifuel engine fitted (pic4). The main external difference between the mk2 and mk2/1 is the NBC pack housing on the right hand side (pic5), the mk2 is similar to the mk1, whereas the mk2/1 is more flush mounted giving a narrower overall width. The mk3 had extensive modifications to the pack and steering assemblies when the Cummins engine was fitted. This is seen in the extra smaller hatch fitted to the front plate (pic6).
